Project Type: Channel Lining
Project Type: Mining

Project Start Date: September 2025

Project Objective: The objective of this project is to line the channel in the Crusher area.

Project Location: Sangatta, East Kalimantan

Contractor: External Contractor
Number of Installers: 5

Client/Project Owner: Coal Mining Company in East Kalimantan

Amount of Concrete Canvas Used: 885 m²

Roll Format: Bulk Roll

Type/Thickness: CCX-M

Layup Method: Transversal

Equipment used

  • Excavator
  • Cutting/Multipurpose Blade
  • 25 cm J-Pin
  • 30 mm Stainless Steel Screw

Alternatives and Reasons for Choosing Concrete Canvas

Crushed stone was considered as an alternative, but this method requires a relatively long installation time. Rainy season conditions were also a major consideration, as they could potentially slow down work and reduce installation effectiveness. Therefore, Concrete Canvas was chosen for its quick installation process and the enhanced waterproofing protection provided by its integrated LLDPE layer.

Environmental Conditions

The ground in the work area is quite soft due to rain so it needs to be smoothed.

Land Preparation

  • Channel profile formation
  • Land contour re-leveling

Installation, Bonding, and Sealing Methods

Concrete Canvas CCX-M was installed transversely with overlap joints. Fastening was performed using 30 mm stainless steel screws spaced 10 cm apart at each overlap. Additionally, 25 cm J-Pins were installed at each joint in the anchor trench.

Hydration Method

The hydration process is carried out using a hose connected to a water pump, with the water source coming from a nearby pond around the project site.

Installation Duration

Installation productivity reaches around 400–500 m² of Concrete Canvas per day.

Project Success

The project was deemed successful, due to the rapid installation.
